POINT OF ROCKS, Md. - Mr. Glenn Eugene Pearl, 83, of Point of Rocks, died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Bessie Mae Fauble Pearl, who died on Nov. 2, 2003.

Born in Lander on Dec. 22, 1925, Glenn was a son of the late Francis C. and Mary Lillian Harris Pearl.

Mr. Pearl had farmed in the Lander and Petersville areas for over 30 years; and for 11 years, he worked as the Frederick County Weed Control Coordinator. He was a member of the Saint Luke's Lutheran Church in Point of Rocks and the Petersville Ruritan Club for 40 years.

Surviving him is one brother, Howard Pearl and wife Ruth of Jefferson; one sister, Betty Wells of Hagerstown; several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Sissy Cooper and husband Mike; several great-nieces and great-nephews, including, Charles and Walter Wilhelm; and six great-great-nieces and nephews, Haili, Harley, Emma, Ashley, Douglas and Dalton. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Pearl, and a sister, Lillie Hope.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. The Rev. Marina C. Flores, pastor of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, and the Rev. Edward Hartman will officiate. Interment will be in the St. Paul's Cemetery, Jefferson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 1519 Ballenger Creek Pike, Point of Rocks, MD 21777 or to a charity of one's choice.
