The question posted Friday on The Herald-Mail's Web site was: Do you think revelations about his sex life will cause viewers to turn away from David Letterman?

Results: Yes, 230 votes (25.5 percent); No, 673 votes (74.5 percent)

o "I never found David Letterman to be funny to begin with and rarely ever watched him. Once Johnny Carson left late night, there has always seemed to be a void."

o "I'm not advocating censoring or filtering our books/media. I advocate waking people up. My point is Hollywood and the entertainment industry puts out what Americans want to see. We know how the advertisers back the highest viewed shows to advertise. That's my point. Our society is buying what Hollywood is selling. We are the ones feeding the monster."

o "It won't affect his viewers. I'm not insulting Letterman or his fans, but I don't think it's the demographic that will be turned off on his show. Maybe if it were the '700 Club' or a 'serious' news anchor ... but not a late night talk show host. People's opinions of him may change, or non-viewers may attack him, but I don't think the average fan of his show is going to stop viewing now."

o "I like Letterman and will continue to watch him. I think he's funny and everyone needs some comedy in this world. As for Glenn Beck and all the (people) at Fox News, they spew nothing but propaganda, lies, hate and fear to the American people."

o "This shows how Americans have become so apathetic when it comes to morals and values. Years ago, I was a David Letterman fan. That was until he became a late night talk show guy with an agenda. Letterman won't lose many viewers over this because we've become a nation that doesn't care. We like seeing scandals, violence and reality TV. How have we gone from shows like 'Leave It to Beaver' and 'Gilligan's Island' to 'Married with Children,' 'Family Guy' and 'The Sopranos?' Just look at what you allow to be viewed in your home. We've lowered our standards and morals to an all-time low. It's time to restore morals, values and the American Family. And that starts at home!"
