Weichts lead the way for Wildcats

WILLIAMSPORT -- The Weicht sisters each scored a goal as Williamsport edged Clear Spring 2-1 in double overtime in MVAL Antietam action Thursday evening.

Senior Lenzie Weicht scored on an assist from Amber Shumaker as the Wildcats (6-5, 3-2) took a 1-0 halftime lead. After the Blazers (4-5, 1-3) knotted the game at 1 in the second half, freshman Lauren Weicht finally broke the tie in the second overtime period.

Julia Price had six saves for Williamsport.

Mercersburg 4, Saint James 1

MERCERSBURG, Pa. -- Rachel Herrera scored on a direct kick for Saint James in a loss to Mercersburg Academy (4-5).

Rose Chuimento had 22 saves for the Saints (3-4-3).

Boonsboro 4, Brunswick 2

BOONSBORO -- Kara Nettleton scored two goals as Boonsboro beat Brunswick in MVAL Antietam play.

Jen Sherdel had a goal and two assists, Jaclyn Fiola had a goal, Amanda Truax had an assist and Becky Smith and Lauren Cronise combined for seven saves for the Warriors (6-6, 3-2).


Boonsboro outshot Brunswick, 17-12.

JV: Boonsboro, 2-0.


Greencastle 5, Harrisburg 1

Jake Dempsey had three goals to lead Greencastle past Harrisburg.

Kevin Piper and Alex Yoder also scored, Taylor Kirkpatrick and Jerrick Gembe each had an assist and Seth Sprague had six saves for the Blue Devils (8-3-1).

Greencastle outshot Harrisburg, 19-10.

JV: Greencastle, 2-0.

South Hagerstown 3, Catoctin 2

THURMONT, Md. -- Ben Stone and Matt Suddith each had a goal and an assist as South beat Catoctin.

Dustin Meyers also scored and Chip Rittenhouse had an assist for the Rebels (7-5, 3-2).

JV: South, 5-1.

Grace 5, Faith 1

Caleb Serafini had two goals and an assist as Grace Academy defeated Faith Christian.

Pat Salvagno and Luke Bunting each had a goal and an assist, Zack Morgan had a goal, Andy Michael had an assist and Kenny Frederickson had seven saves for the Knights (15-1, 12-0).

Justin Robertson scored on an assist from Ethan Price for the Falcons.

Williamsport 3, Clear Spring 2

CLEAR SPRING -- Cody Gardenhour and Jordan Payne each had a goal and an assist as Williamsport beat Clear Spring in MVAL Antietam play.

Jonathan Adams had a goal, Mark Oliver had an assist and Alex Aleshire had four saves for the Wildcats (6-4-2, 3-1).

Gavin Myers scored both goals on assists from Brandon Kesselring and Blake Vincent for the Blazers (7-3-1, 2-2-1).

Williamsport outshot Clear Spring, 19-7.


Boonsboro 3, North 0

BOONSBORO -- Cortney Silvis had 14 kills and three aces and Alison Griffith had 13 kills and six digs for Boonsboro in a 26-24, 25-18, 25-21 MVAL Antietam victory over North Hagerstown (9-1, 4-1).

Megan Long had 11 kills and eight digs, Rebecca Demers had 39 assists, 10 digs and three blocks, Macy Fuscsick had 13 digs, Amber Welch had nine digs and three service aces and Becky Young had seven digs for the Warriors (5-5, 3-2).

JV: North, 2-1.

Red Land 3, Waynesboro 2

LEWISBERRY, Pa. -- Red Land defeated Waynesboro, 13-25, 25-16, 15-25, 25-21, 15-11.

Dani Miller had 13 kills for Waynesboro (4-7), while Amber Martz had 10 kills and 10 blocks, Tracy Cline had 11 digs and Marlie Beckner had 10 digs.

Musselman 3, Washington 0

INWOOD, W.Va. -- Musselman swept Washington, 25-19, 25-6, 25-19.

Taylor Allen had 14 kills for Musselman (9-2), while Kortney Jenkins had 12 kills and Emily Funkhouser had five kills, six aces and nine digs.

Saint James 3, Heritage 1

Callan Spicher had 13 kills, 12 service points and 23 digs for Saint James in a 25-12, 23-25, 25-20, 25-17 win over Heritage Academy.

Regena Reyes had eight kills and eight blocks, Jordan Wills had 12 service points and 15 digs and Lindsey Gish had 24 assists for the Saints (8-2).

Callie Butts had 25 assists, seven service points and three aces for Heritage (12-2), while Rachel Clarke had two kills, six service points, five aces and five blocks and Bri Dorsey had three kills, three service points and five digs.

JV: Heritage, 2-0.

Grace 3, Faith 1

Erica Null had 16 kills and 11 service points for Grace Academy (9-4, 8-4) in a 20-25, 25-4, 25-13, 25-15 MDCC win over Faith Christian (2-10).

Jamie Shurnitski had five kills, 17 service points and 10 assists for Grace (9-4, 8-4), while Lauren Serafini had eight kills and 10 assists.

Williamsport 3, Brunswick 0

WILLIAMSPORT -- Trisha Leigh had six kills, four aces and two blocks as Williamsport swept Brunswick, 25-10, 25-7, 25-13.

Ariah Giles had six kills and four aces, Sam Kelly had six kills and Paige Kitchen had 14 assists for the Wildcats (3-7, 1-4).

JV: Williamsport, 2-0.

McConnellsburg 3, Hyndman 2

HYNDMAN, Pa. -- A'Leese Dickerson had 29 kills, 12 aces, 11 digs and seven blocks to lead McConnellsburg in a 25-19, 25-22, 24-26, 23-25, 15-10 victory over Hyndman.

Lisa DeShong had 10 digs and 38 assists, Emily Watkins had 11 digs and five kills, Valerie Green had 22 digs, Jessica Nero had 21 digs and Ricci Green had six kills for the Spartans (7-2).
