Two face drug charges after Funkstown traffic stop



FUNKSTOWN -- Two Washington County residents face drug-related charges following a traffic stop Monday night in Funkstown, the Washington County Sheriff's Department said in a news release.

At about 11:20 p.m., a deputy stopped a vehicle in the area of Edgewood Drive and Haywood Circle for having no rear tag lights. He smelled the odor of marijuana from inside the vehicle, and a subsequent search of the vehicle found approximately 32 grams of crack cocaine under the passenger seat and a cigar wrapper filled with marijuana, the release said.

The driver was identified as Theresa Danielle Kidwell, 22, of 16810 Custer Court, Williamsport; and the passenger was identified as Charles Richard Cosley III, 37, of 214 N. Colonial Drive, Hagerstown. Both were charged with possession with intent to deliver a narcotic, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, the release said.

Kidwell was held on $10,000 bond and Cosley was held on $75,000 bond. Both were in custody at the Washington County Detention Center on Wednesday morning, the release said.

Hagerstown police respond to calls



The Hagerstown Police Department responded to the following calls this week:

Oct. 3

o A drug violation was reported at West Washington Street and Devonshire Road. One person was arrested.

o Motor vehicle windows were damaged in the 100 block of South Locust Street.

o A house in the 700 block of Park Lane was ransacked while the owner was gone.

o A rock was thrown through a window in the 200 block of South Locust Street.

o A rear door was kicked in in the first block of East Antietam Street.

o Cash was stolen from Direct Wireless on Dual Highway.

o Jewelry was stolen from the 100 block of Cypress Street.

Oct. 4

o Cosmetics and medication were stolen from Garland Groh Boulevard. One person was arrested.

o A garage door lock was disturbed in the 900 block of Mulberry Avenue.

o Windows were damaged in the 600 block of Pennsylvania Avenue.

o A wallet was stolen from the 700 block of George Street.

Oct. 5

o Lawn furniture was stolen from the 100 block of South Prospect Street.

o Jewelry was stolen from the 300 block of Liberty Street.

o Items worth $131 were stolen from Garland Groh Boulevard.

o Sunglasses were stolen from the 1200 block of Pinecrest Avenue.

The Washington County Sheriff's Department responded to the following calls Monday:

o Reported at 12:33 a.m., a domestic incident between a husband and wife, in the 14600 block of Pennersville Road.

o Reported at 2:34 a.m., drug paraphernalia was found after a traffic stop on Halfway Boulevard. A criminal citation was issued.

o Reported at 5:46 a.m., CDs and change were stolen from an unlocked motor vehicle in the 900 block of Harwood Road.

o Reported at 7:05 a.m., change was stolen from a vehicle in the 900 block of Harwood Road.

o Reported at 8:33 a.m., a domestic incident between a boyfriend and girlfriend in the 7200 block of Dustin Drive.

o Reported at 9:12 a.m., a license plate was stolen from a motor vehicle in the 11000 block of Donelson Drive.

o Reported at 9:54 a.m., a power washer was stolen from the 12000 block of Smithfield Farm Lane.

o Reported at 11:37 a.m., a motor vehicle was damaged with a sharp object and a mirror damaged in the 10700 block of Brookmeade Circle.

o Reported at 12:37 p.m., change and a cell phone were stolen from the 20000 block of Rosebank Way-Loyalton.

o Reported at 3:58 p.m., a home in the 19900 block of Ashfield Court was broken into and items were stolen.

o Reported at 6:02 p.m., change was stolen from a motor vehicle in the 900 block of Harwood Road and a glove box was damaged.

o Reported at 4:14 p.m., money was stolen from several rooms in the 20000 block of Rosebank Way-Loyalton.

o Reported at 6:16 p.m., a central air conditioner was stolen from the 18900 block of Sandy Hook Road.
