Bunting's hat trick lifts Grace over Broadfording

Luke Bunting had a hat trick to lead Grace Academy past Broadfording Christian Academy 6-2 on Tuesday night in a matchup of the top two Mason Dixon Christian Conference squads.

The Knights (14-1, 11-0) completed a sweep of the Lions (13-3, 11-2). Grace defeated Broadfording 3-0 on Sept. 10.

Patrick Salvagno had two goals and an assist for the Knights, while Caleb Serafini added a goal and an assist. Zack Morgan recorded two assists, Andrew Michael had an assist and Kenny Frederickson made 12 saves, one on a penalty kick.

Jordan Whitt and Michael Torres each scored for the Lions.

North Hagerstown 3, Boonsboro 1

BOONSBORO -- Frederick Owusu-Ayim notched a hat trick to lead North past Boonsboro in the MVAL Antietam.

Andreas Grahn, Andre DeSouza and Mavlyud Gilmanov each had an assist for the Hubs (8-3, 4-0).

Tyler Rossen scored for the Warriors (0-10, 0-4) to snap North's string of five straight shutouts.


Williamsport 1, S. Hagerstown 0

Jordan Payne scored in the first half on a Bryan Whitmore assist, while Alex Aleshire made four saves to record the shutout for the Wildcats (5-4-2, 3-1) in the MVAL Antietam.

The Rebels fall to 6-5, 2-2.

Catoctin 2, Smithsburg 1

SMITHSBURG -- Joey Barvir scored on an assist from Yusif Kadir, but Smithsburg fell to Catoctin in the MVAL Antietam.

Dan Gillen made six saves for the Leopards (1-10, 1-3).

Heritage Academy 3, CVCS 1

Travis Barthalow had two goals as Heritage Academy defeated Cumberland Valley Christian in the MDCC.

Bryce Nigh had a goal, Mark Taggart, J.R. Dudeck and Aaron Clark each had an assist and Chad Lowry made 19 saves for the Eagles (7-4-1, 7-4-1).

Min Ho An scored for CVCS (5-9-1, 4-8-1).

Greencastle 1, Boiling Springs 0

GREENCASTLE, Pa. -- Taylor Kirkpatrick scored on an assist from Jesse Herman as Greencastle-Antrim shut out Boiling Springs.

The Blue Devils (7-6-1) outshot Boiling Springs, 15-1.

JV: Greencastle 5-0.


Williamsport 4, South Hagerstown 0

WILLIAMSPORT -- Brittany Weaver scored two goals to lead Williamsport past South Hagerstown in the MVAL Antietam.

Amber Shumaker and Lenzie Weicht each scored and Julia Price and Erin Gaines combined on the shutout in goal for the Wildcats (5-5, 2-1).

JV: Williamsport, 10-0.


Smithsburg 3, South Hagerstown 0

Sara Rishell had 20 kills, 11 digs and seven blocks as Smithsburg swept South 25-14, 25-16, 25-16 in the MVAL Antietam to remain undefeated.

Taylor Belella had 24 assists, 15 service points and eight digs, Colleen Black had seven kills and Danielle Beaver added 13 digs for the Leopards (9-0, 4-0).

Rebecca Pearl had nine kills for the Rebels (4-5, 1-3).

Boonsboro 3, Catoctin 1

THURMONT, Md. -- Rebecca Demers had 23 assists, 10 digs and nine aces as the Warriors defeated Catoctin 25-15, 24-26, 25-21, 25-8 in the MVAL Antietam.

Alison Griffith had 15 digs, 11 kills and five aces, Cortney Silvis had 10 kills and four aces, Amber Welch had six aces, Tiffany Rohrer had 12 digs and Macy Fuscsick added 10 digs for Boonsboro (4-5, 2-2).

JV: Boonsboro, 2-0.

Clear Spring 3, Brunswick 0

BRUNSWICK, Md. -- Lily Pinkham had 12 kills and three blocks, Sarah Elwood had seven aces and Megan Micco added 28 assists for Clear Spring (7-1, 4-0) in the Blazers' 25-11, 25-17, 25-5 sweep of Brunswick.

JV: Clear Spring, 2-0.

Saint James 3, Bishop Walsh 0

SAINT JAMES -- Lindsey Gish had 17 assists and eight aces, while Callan Spicher added nine aces and nine kills to as the Saints rolled to a 25-7, 25-11, 25-10 sweep at home.

Jordan Wills had eight aces and Regena Reyes added seven kills for Saint James (8-2).

JV: Saint James, 2-1.

Broadfording 3, Grace Academy 0

Broadfording Christian Academy remained unbeaten with a Mason Dixon Christian Conference sweep of Grace Academy (8-4, 7-4), 25-17, 25-15, 25-17.

Hannah Young had 10 kills and 11 digs, Rebecca Adams had 21 assists, 15 digs and four aces, and Danielle DuBois added 16 digs for the Lions (16-0, 13-0).

Heritage Academy 3, CVCS 0

Caroline Stamper had 12 kills, nine blocks and six aces for Heritage Academy, which swept Cumberland Valley Christian School (5-10, 5-8) 25-11, 25-12, 25-15 in the MDCC.

Callie Butts had 25 assists and five aces, and Rebekah Clarke added four blocks for the Eagles (12-1, 11-1).

Hancock 3, Paw Paw 0

PAW PAW, W.Va. -- Briana Swisher had 17 service points as Hancock swept Paw Paw, 25-12, 25-22, 25-14.

Chelsie Wise had 10 service points and Hannah Creek had four assists and seven service points for the Panthers (2-6).

Greencastle 3, Harrisburg 0

HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Erin Garns had 25 service points and seven aces to lead Greencastle-Antrim to a 25-2, 25-9, 25-3 sweep of Harrisburg.

Nakita Gearhart had seven kills, Lauren Verhoef had 11 service points and five aces, Katy Bobbitt had 17 service points and eight aces, and Jenny Fisher had 14 service points and seven aces for the Blue Devils (11-0).
