FREDERICK, Md. - Mrs. Edith Lorine Moss, 76, of Frederick, died on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2009, at her home.

She was the wife of the late Howard Lee Moss, who died on Sept. 2, 1990.

Born in Boonsboro on Feb. 26, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Edgar and Catherine Reeder Betts.

Mrs. Moss had worked for 25 years at Sagner's Clothing in Frederick until its closing, and then after 30 years she retired from GEICO Insurance Co.

She was a long-time member of the Frederick Church of the Brethren and the Friendship Sunday School Class. She served as a deacon, taught Sunday school for 30 years, and was active with numerous activities and committees at the church, including the selling of Christmas trees on the church lot for many years. She was also a member of the Frederick Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.


Surviving are her four children, Sharon L. Linton and husband A. Patrick, of Frederick; Deborah L. Rowh and husband James, of Jefferson, Md.; Edgar L. Moss and wife Vanessa, of Jefferson; and Kenneth L. Moss and wife Virginia, of Walkersville, Md.; and her daughter-in-law, Dorothy J. Moss, of Frederick; three sisters, Louise Barry of Thurmont, Md., Geraldine Moser of Frederick, and Evelyn Miller and husband Charlie, of Buckeystown, Md.; and many nieces and nephews. She will also be remembered by her 14 loving grandchildren, Laura Anspach and husband Dave, Scott Linton, Jamie Rowh Baer and husband Clint, Wesley Rowh and wife Bre, Steven Moss and wife Jennifer, Janelle Moss, Maria Moss, Daniel Moss and fiancee, Kathleen Frana, Michael Moss, Kristin Moss, Elizabeth Moss, Andrew Moss, Emily Moss and Joseph Moss, and two wonderful great-grandchildren, Benjamin and William Anspach.

She was preceded in death by a son, Mark L. Moss, and a grandson, Alan Patrick Linton Jr.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009, at the Frederick Church of the Brethren, 201 Fairview Ave. The Rev. Dr. Paul Mundey, pastor of the church, and the Rev. Dr. James S. Flora will officiate. Interment will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Frederick Church of the Brethren, Deacon Fund, 201 Fairview Ave., Frederick, MD 21701.
