Big weekend ends

Good morning, dear friends. Can we exhale yet after such a big weekend? The homecoming game at South Hagerstown High School on Friday night was an adventure, to say the least.

We can all be proud of a well-fought battle on the gridiron that unfortunately left the Rebels just shy of a win.

Fortunately, the weather decided to take a turn for the better for the dance on Saturday, and the sun added a fabulous backdrop for the countless pictures that were taken of the young men and women dressed to the nines and ready to dance the night away.

Now that the updos are down and the suits are hung back in the closet, let's take a peek into what is happening around our area in the coming days and weeks.

Scholarship donations sought at South High

High school days pass too quickly and before you know, it our scholars will be heading off to college. The South Hagerstown PTA is asking for your help to provide financial aid through their scholarship programs.

Donations are being accepted at the home football games and with only two left, please make an effort to come out and drop a little something in the bucket. Also, don't forget to sign up for the A+ for students program at Martin's grocery stores. Simply take your bonus card to the customer service desk and let them know you want to support South Hagerstown High.

With so much going on and so many educational futures at stake, why not attend the PTA meeting on Thursday at 6 p.m. at South High and find out how you can help.

Cooking class

I admit to a guilty pleasure ... I simply adore the Food Network! It's true. Other than ESPN, the Food Network ranks right up there. I have always wanted to actually see one of those shows in person and to try out the food myself.

The Women's Club is bringing a cooking class to all. Chef John Wassil from Aqua 103 will prepare a variety of recipes and sauces, and will be sharing tastes and ideas with those in the class.

Want to get involved?  Call the Women's Club at 301-739-0870 to reserve your tickets today.

Seize the day

Well, time to put down the coffee, and grab the day and run with it. I wish you all smiles and laughter.
