HAGERSTOWN, Md. - Virginia May "Ginny" Zimmerman, 90, of Ravenwood Nursing Care Center, Hagerstown, passed away Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Sept. 18, 1919, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Charles Raymond and Anna May (Anderson) Lidie.

Mrs. Zimmerman was a homemaker and a member of Hagerstown Church of the Brethren.

She was a former member of the Community Rescue Services of Hagerstown.

She is survived by two sisters, Nancy Gluck and Jeanette Rickett, both of Hagerstown; one brother, David Lidie of Hagerstown; four grandchildren, Maurice E. "Skip" Zimmerman III and Mark E. Zimmerman, both of Newport, R.I., Donna D. Favreau of Georgia, Vt., and Virginia C. Zimmerman of Marlboro, Mass.; eight great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and best friends, Mary C. Henneberger and Mary Jo Grimm and husband Mike, all of Hagerstown.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice E. Zimmerman Sr.; a son, Maurice E. Zimmerman Jr.; daughter-in-law, Kay (Snyder) Zimmerman; two sisters, Dorothy Ahalt and Hazel Mercer; and four brothers, Elvin Lidie, Charles R. Lidie Jr., Avin Lidie and Robert Lidie.


Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, at 1 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with Pastor Blaine Feightner officiating.

Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Friends will be received Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
