Mail Call

October 05, 2009

"Hey, a great way to get rid of stink bugs is to find some bored people, a large-mouth plastic container to be able to carry, like a big soda bottle filled with water, some dish liquid and a teaspoon of distilled vinegar, and then turn the people loose and go around and catch all you can. ... There's no easy way to get rid of them, but you might be able to knock them down some and besides, it gives the kids something to do."

"I really wish that the police would do something about the drag racing out on Old Forge Road -- the long straight strip of road out by the Old Forge Elementary School down past Beard's Church and out to Little Antietam Road. On Saturday night around 12:30 or 1 a.m., they were out there for about 45 minutes racing up and down the road. They did stop for about 10 minutes and then began again."

"I agree 100 percent with the caller that mentioned that if O'Malley wants to trim the budget, to start at the top. I was a state employee for many years, and years and years, we would complain to our legislators that they have to cut the positions at the top first. They are worthless. A lot of them serve no purpose to the taxpayers. But no one has paid any attention. This started before O'Malley, but now would be a good time to start trimming the excess off the top."

"I'm calling concerning the drive-thrus in these fast-food restaurants. I just wish that when people drive up to these fast-food restaurants that they would have their order ready. I've worked in fast food now for almost seven years and I'm tired of saying 'hi, may I help you?' and they say 'wait a minute.' ... We're on a service timer and we don't have time to wait a minute, so when you drive up, have your order ready."

"Yes, I want to say 'amen' to the caller who called in and said that mothers could take some parenting tips from the Amish mothers. I was in church Sunday and a couple with two kids let them walk all over the seats, and they were really uncontrollable even in church. Amen again to that comment."

"To the lady that said I need to retract my comment and all about a lot of jobs being out there. I feel that I don't have to retract anything. There's plenty of jobs out there, especially at these fast-food restaurants. I mean people just don't want to work."

"In response to the caller from Hagerstown who called in saying that he's paying $60 a week for himself for health care and now it's going up to $200 a week. He said he don't want anything to do with the president's health care reform if that is what it is. Well, the president's health care reform hasn't even passed yet, so that doesn't have anything to do with that. This is only the greedy insurance companies raising the rates. Health care reform will bring his rates down or give him an option to go get a cheaper insurance."
