Ruth Elizabeth "Billie" Dunn, 85, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away Friday, Oct. 2, at her home. Born Sept. 1, 1924, in Bangor, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Edward E. Lovejoy II and Ruth E. Lovejoy Weir, and the stepdaughter of the late Brig. Gen. Benjamin G. Weir. Her husband, Wilmer E. "Willie" Dunn, preceded her in death in 1986. A niece, Sally Lovejoy of Maine, also preceded her in death.

She was a member of St. Anne's Episcopal Church in Smithsburg. She served on the Altar Guild, the Ladies Guild and the Advisory Board of St. Anne's. She also was a member of Jefferson Heights Bowling League and had volunteered with the Washington County Hospital Auxiliary. She fulfilled her dream of being a full-time mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and enjoyed being around all her family. She also enjoyed traveling, playing cards and shopping.

Survivors include her daughters, Dee Harne and husband, Howard, of Smithsburg, Judy Barnes and husband, Mike, of Hagerstown and Sue Suder and husband, Rick, of Smithsburg; her son, Ted Dunn and wife, Becky, of Arnold, Md.; an older brother, Edward E. Lovejoy III of Bangor, Maine; other survivors are her grandchildren, Danielle Jones of Chester, Va., Dwayne Harne and wife, Lisa, of Hancock, Chris Barnes of Waynesboro, Pa., Robin Graber and husband, Dan, of Smithsburg, Brian Updegraff and wife, Sandy, of Laurel, Md. and Ben Dunn of Arnold. Surviving great-grandchildren are Austin, Samuel and Palmer Jones, Hannah, Abigail and Luke Barnes, and Ella Updegraff. She is also survived by a nephew, Ted Lovejoy of Belfast, Maine; and a brother-in-law, Gaither Dunn of Smithsburg.

There will be a visitation with the family from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009, followed by a memorial service, with the Rev. Peter Fulghm officiating, at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown.
