o Army Reserve Sgt. Matthew E. Hitt, stepson of Lisa M. Davis of Hagerstown, and nephew of Alan W. Finfrock of Hedgesville, W.Va., has been mobilized and activated for deployment overseas to a forward operating base in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Hitt, a convoy operator, is normally assigned to the 619th Transportation Company, Auburn, Maine. He has six years of military service.

Hitt is a 2003 graduate of South Hagerstown High School.

o Navy Seaman Recruit Brayden C. Thomas, son of Kristine L. and Michael A. Thomas of Chambersburg, Pa., recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Thomas is a 2009 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School.

o Army Reserve Pvt. Roger D. Pleasant, the former ward of Sandra Plott and son of Junita Quebel, both of Hagerstown, graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.

Pleasant is a 2008 graduate of Washington County Technical High School.
