Fire company to hold breakfast

 

The Potomac Valley Fire Co. in Dargan will hold an all-you-can-eat pancake and sausage breakfast Saturday from 8 to 11 a.m. The breakfast will include pancakes, sausage, sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, coffee milk and juice. Tickets cost $5. It will be free for those ages 5 and younger. 

O'Connell to speak at Sharpsburg Library



Children's book author and illustrator Jennifer O'Connell will present the process of creating her picture book, "Ten Timid Ghosts" Thursday, Oct. 8, at 3:30 p.m. at the Sharpsburg Library.

Participants will see her sketches and original paintings, hear the step-by-step process, create a new character with her and build a spooky story about the character.

Angel Food available



Angel Food is now available in the Sharpsburg/Keedysville area.

Angel Food Ministries is a nonprofit, nondenominational organization providing food at a low price. Each box costs $30. Menus change monthly and special packages are available. For more information, call 301-432-4046 Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Legion to meet



Legion Post 236 will hold its monthly meeting Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Sharpsburg Ambulance Hall on Chapline Street. Veterans are welcome.

St. Mark's to hold senior fair Oct. 22



St. Mark's Episcopal Church, at 18313 Lappans Road, will hold a senior fair Thursday, Oct. 22, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This is a free program including a free lunch sponsored by the Parish Nurse Program of St. Mark's.

Thomas B. Riford of the Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau will speak about "Places to Go and Things to See," Lorraine O'Neill, a physical therapist, will speak about "Keeping you Mobile" and Dr. Ralph Salvagno will speak about "Joint Replacement."

Information will be available on the H1N1 virus, as well as displays and handouts from the Commission on Aging, CASA, Valley Mall, Hospice, Breast Cancer Awareness-Cumberland Valley and Food Resources.

Regular flu shots will be available for participants (a fee will be charged for the flu shot.)

Senior citizens to meet at Manor Church Oct. 7



The Manor Church Senior Citizens Club will be gathering at Manor Church of the Brethren, 18511 Manor Church Road, for its monthly meeting Wednesday, Oct. 7, at noon. Soup and sandwiches will be served. For more information, call president Carolyn Heimberger at 301-582 4775.

Ita Kavanaugh to speak at senior site
