Hagerstown Community College and Allegany College of Maryland is offering a home energy analyst class for people interested in becoming residential audit contractors for Allegheny Power. Landscape Design and Plant Selection

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- Participants will learn how to create a personal landscape plan. The course lasts for seven weeks. Oct. 8, basic tools for getting started, whether at a new or old property; Oct. 15 an artist's view of the landscape: what your property will look like in 10 years; choosing the right trees for your landscape; Oct. 22, using native plants in your landscape; also, learn about invasive plants; Nov. 5, using deciduous and evergreen shrubs in the landscape; No. 12, soil chemistry -- how it affects everything you plant; and to be scheduled, plan review. 7 to 9 p.m. Thursdays.
