Feet on the Street kicks off Friday fun

HAGERSTOWN -- Organizers of Feet on the Street Fridays hope the event will make Hagerstown the place to be on Friday nights.

The event, which kicks off Friday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Potomac Walk downtown, will feature food, drinks and live entertainment.

Potomac Walk is the indoor area at 38 S. Potomac St. that connects the Arts and Entertainment District Parking Garage to Bulls & Bears Restaurant and Pub.

Feet on the Street Fridays is the idea of Bowman Hospitality, which owns Bulls & Bears and Potomac Walk.

"We're planning on every Friday from here on out," said Matt Donegan, manager of new business development for Bowman Development.

"We want Hagerstown to be known as a place you can come to on Fridays every Friday."

Bowman Development will hold Feet on the Street Fridays inside this winter, Donegan said, and will seek permission from the City of Hagerstown to take the event outside during the warmer months.

Donegan said Bowman Development doesn't intend to compete with Wind Down Fridays, a fundraising event that is held at the same time by The Maryland Theatre across the street.

Local country music performer Josh Morningstar will provide the entertainment for the first Feet on the Street Fridays event. There will not be a cover charge.

People younger than 21 will be tagged to prevent them from being served alcohol.

Donegan said Bulls & Bears has been doing well since it opened Oct. 16, 2008.

"We are very pleased with the progress," Donegan said. "We want to thank the City of Hagerstown and all of our patrons."
