Local runners win Ragnar Relay

RUNNING



WASHINGTON -- Local runners Bret Mower, Susan Graham-Gray, Tim Fisler, Brad Sponaugle, Jeff Delauter, Billy Walls, Rob Hovermale, Tim Schuler, Mike Sheely, Tammy Anderson, Veronique Hauschild and Jeff Myers teamed to place first overall out of 156 teams at the Ragnar Relay last weekend.

They covered the 199.3-mile course from Cumberland, Md., to Washington in 22 hours, 41 minutes, 52 seconds -- an average of 6:49 per mile.

GIRLS SOCCER



Bullis 5, Mercersburg 0

WASHINGTON -- Samira Jackson had four goals and Courtney Rubens had one for Bullis School (5-1) in the win over Mercersburg Academy (3-4).

Martinsburg 3, Hedgesville 1

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- Alaina Heck scored two goals as Martinsburg beat Hedgesville.

Jamie Hill also scored and Ashlin Nealy had eight saves for the Bulldogs (9-4-1).

Mary Hull had 18 saves for the Eagles (3-7-1).

Saint James 5, Randolph-Macon 3

FRONT ROYAL, Va. -- Andrew Ludwick had three goals and an assist as the Saints went on the road to defeat Randolph-Macon Academy on Tuesday.

Paul Musinguzi had a goal and an assist, and Fraser McPherson added a goal for Saint James (3-6-1). David Guwani had an assist.

Brian Kukucka had nine saves for the Hawks (6-3-2, 4-2-2).

WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL



Shepherd 3, Seton Hill 0

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W. Va. -- Kasey Mercier had 11 kills and 11 digs as Shepherd swept Seton Hill 25-16, 25-19, 25-23 in WVIAC action.

Julie Robertson had 23 digs, Lauren Gardner had 22 digs and Amanda Hall had seven kills for the Rams (11-6, 6-0).

WOMEN'S SOCCER



Shippensburg 4, Shepherd 0

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. -- Gayle Kuntzmann had two goals as Shippensburg (5-4-2) shut out Shepherd.

Amanda Greenwalt and Rachel Jeffrey also scored for the Raiders.

Lauren Vetock had 11 saves for the Rams (2-6-2).
