Friends of Tonoloway church to hold fall service

WARFORDSBURG, Pa. -- The Friends of Tonoloway Primitive Baptist Church will hold its annual fall service Sunday at 2 p.m. at the church near Warfordsburg. 

Pastor Scott Gibbs of Buck Valley Christian Church in Warfordsburg will officiate, with the Sharon Mennonite Bible Institute Choir of Harrisonville, Pa., performing during the service. 

Organized in 1745, Tonoloway is the oldest church in Fulton County, Pa., and the 10th oldest Baptist church in the U.S. 

Signatures written on the walls of the church by Union troops hospitalized there during Stonewall Jackson's bombardment of Hancock can still be seen. 

Tonoloway is on Thompson Road (Pa. 655) in Fulton County, Pa., about two miles north of Hancock.

 Friends of Tonoloway Primitive Baptist Church is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to restore and preserve the the church building as an historic site and a place of worship.

Services are held at the church twice yearly.
