Hubs win city golf championship

PREP GOLF



North Hagerstown easily won the first Hagerstown City Championship on Monday at windswept Hagerstown Greens, posting a team score of 159.

North freshman Aaron Staley posted three birdies to offset a pair of bogeys to record a 1-under-par 34 to lead the Hubs.

Dan Rost had a 41 to lead St. Maria Goretti and Isaac O'Brien had a 47 to lead South Hagerstown. Even a 46 by Christian Grosh counted in the Goretti score as he played his round one-handed with a cast on his left arm.

The top four on each team counted in the team scores.

Jenna Ritz had nine assists, 14 services points and three aces, Rachel Norris had three digs and Cierra Covalt had six kills and eight assists for the Indians (1-5).

Hannah Creek had three service points and three assists, while Maureen Leavy had three blocks and five kills for the Panthers (1-4).

Hagerstown Community College will host its "Dig Pink" Night during its match with the College of Southern Maryland on Oct. 5. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the match begins at 7.
