Scarecrow contest kicks off Monday



MIDDLETOWN, Md. - Middletown Arts and Activities Council is holding its annual Scarecrow Contest beginning Monday, Sept. 28, with registration at the Municipal Center, 31 W. Main St. Deadline for finished scarecrows is Friday, Oct. 16, and winners will be announced Saturday, Oct. 17.

The Council will provide a basic scarecrow kit for residents, organizations and Middletown Valley businesses. The scarecrows will line Main Street beginning Oct. 17. For information call 301-371-6171 or go to www.middletownartsandactivities.com.




Board members needed for nonprofit



FREDERICK, Md. - Celebrate Frederick Inc. is accepting applications for people interested in serving on its board of directors.

Celebrate Frederick produces 14 events in the City of Frederick each year.

Directors are elected to three-year terms in November.
