Edith H. Stover, 99, formerly of Alexandria, Va., died Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, at Homewood at Williamsport.

Born April 16, 1910, in Beckley, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Daniel Frederick and Nettie Mae Ashley Holliday.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Stover; and her two daughters, Barbara Grebenstein and Sheila Gibbin.

She was a graduate of Beckley High School.

She was employed by Davis Stuart School, Lewisburg, W.Va., for 31 years, where she was the assistant superintendent prior to her retirement.

She was an active member of Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church in Alexandria for many years, where she served in numerous local and regional Women-of-the-Church positions.

She is survived by her two sisters, Parrthenia Glover and Evelyn Lynch; her son-in-law, Edward Grebenstein; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Larrick and Mildred Roles; and two brothers, John Holliday and Daniel Holliday.

The service and burial will be private. If you wish, memorial contributions may be made to Homewood at Williamsport, Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church or Davis Stuart School.
