Foundation streamlines grant application process

September 28, 2009

The Community Foundation of Washington County MD Inc. is responding to needs in the community due to the recent economic downturn.

In order to get funds into the nonprofit community more efficiently, the organization has streamlined its granting process to a one-step application process.

It has also chosen to target areas of critical need. For 2009, grants will be available to nonprofit agencies addressing homelessness and housing assistance, hunger, domestic violence/child abuse and neglect, and medical care for the uninsured and underinsured.

Applications submitted should identify problems as well as the underlying conditions contributing to these issues which might be described as root causes. Programs intended to address such root causes might include parenting skills, counseling, prevention, mentoring, family structure and support. Capital equipment related to such programming might also be considered.

Applications for grants are due by Nov, 13 to meet a planned distribution of funds of February 2010.
