Around Maugansville

Miss Penny's Porch

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Lincoln penny. To celebrate the milestone, the Maugansville Historical Society will hold a penny drive with the hopes of collecting enough pennies to purchase a gazebo named Miss Penny's Porch.

The gazebo would be placed in Ruritan Park within walking distance of the Maugansville Creamery. The historical society thanks the Maugansville Ruritan for its generosity in donating the land.

Pennies may be dropped off at the Tower Bank branch on Maugans Avenue, Maugansville Elementary School or in the Miss Penny's Porch jars at various businesses around Maugansville. The historical society hopes to collect enough pennies to have the gazebo in place by Pride Day 2010.

By each of us pitching in a little bit, Miss Penny's Porch will be a reminder of Abraham Lincoln's devotion to our country and our devotion to our community. The Maugansville Historical Society thanks you for your support.
