September 25, 2009

The JCPenney Afterschool Fund has awarded a $6,000 grant to the Boys & Girls Club of Washington County to help local youths continue to attend the club's after-school programs.

Funds from the grant will cover the expense of attending the club, including staff supervision by full-time, trained youth development professionals; exposure to tried and proven programs; access to community service initiatives; transportation; snacks; and time spent in a safe environment.

Boys & Girls Clubs of America has received funding and support from the fund for more than 10 years.

In its continuing effort to ensure that every child in America has access to after-school programs, the JCPenney Afterschool Fund has given $1.5 million to Boys & Girls Clubs of America for the 2009-10 school year.
