BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. -- Thelma Estella Grove, age 87, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009, at the Extended Care Facility of Morgan County War Memorial Hospital.

Born Sept. 11, 1922, at Spohrs Crossroads, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Emory J. and Maggie Rankin Hovermale.

She was a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Spohrs Crossroads, W.Va., and the United Methodist Women. She attended both Spohrs Crossroads School and Berkeley Springs High School. She had worked seasonally at local canneries and had been in partnership with her late brother at Morgan Motor Sales. She enjoyed traveling and shopping, and had been a homemaker in recent years.


Thelma is survived by her husband of 59 years, William Weber Grove, at home.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Harold Hovermale.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, at the Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 95 Union St., Berkeley Springs, W.Va., with the Rev. Daniel L. Montague III officiating. Interment will be in Spohrs Crossroads Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
