Hubs blank Blazers

Andreas Grahn, Max Psillas, Frederick Owusu-Ayim and Tyler Sterling each scored a goal as North Hagerstown shut out visiting Clear Spring 4-0 on Thursday in the MVAL Antietam opener for each team.

Dino Gilmanov and Bryan Hetzer each had an assist for the Hubs (5-3, 1-0).

The Blazers fell to 5-2 (0-1).

South 3, Boonsboro 1

Matt Suddith scored on a penatly kick and had an assist as South Hagerstown beat Boonsboro.

Ben Stone and Kenny Stewart both scored, while Will Carroll had 10 saves for the Rebels (5-3).

Paul Jordan had 27 saves, while Jake Spence scored on an assist from Kenny Kopp for the Warriors (0-7).

JV: South, 3-0.

Brunswick 2, Smithsburg 0

BRUNSWICK, Md. -- Dan Gillen made eight saves for the Leopards (0-8) in a loss to the Railroaders.


Williamsport 5, Catoctin 0

WILLIAMSPORT -- Daniel Doub had a goal and three assists as Williamsport beat Catoctin.

Jon Adams, Bryan Whitmore, Cody Gardenhour and Jordan Payne each had a goal and Connor Arnone had an assist for the Wildcats (3-3-2). Alex Aleshire had five saves, including one on a penalty kick, for his fifth shutout of the season.

Camp Hill 1, Greencastle 0

CAMP HILL, Pa. -- Ryan Polly scored the winning goal as Camp Hill shut out Greencastle.

Seth Sprague had five saves for the Blue Devils (5-6).

Mercersburg 2, Musselman 0

INWOOD, W.Va. -- Carlos Garcia had a goal and Joey Roberts scored on a penalty kick as Mercersburg Academy (5-0-1) shut out Musselman on Wednesday.


North 1, Clear Spring 0

CLEAR SPRING -- Katie Ritter scored the lone goal midway through the first half and goalie Lindsay Irving posted her third shutout of the season as North Hagerstown edged Clear Spring in the MVAL Antietam opener for each team.

The Hubs (5-1-1, 1-0) outshot the Blazers, 26-4. Victoria Albert had 23 saves for Clear Spring (3-3, 0-1).

JV: North, 5-0.

Boonsboro 7, South Hagerstown 0

BOONSBORO -- Ashlyn Hawbaker scored four goals to lead Boonsboro to a victory over South Hagerstown in the MVAL Antietam opener for each team.

Jen Sherdel had a goal and an assist for the Warriors (4-4, 1-0), while Kayla Walsh and Kara Nettleton each had a goal and Jacklyn Fiola and Abby Duncan each had two assists. Becky Smith had four saves in the shutout.

The Rebels fell to 0-5-1 (0-1).

Catoctin 2, Williamsport 1

THURMONT, Md. -- Renee Barnes scored an unassisted goal in the second half for Williamsport (3-4).

JV: Williamsport, 2-0.

Goretti 3, Saint James 2

Lauree Lorenson had two goals and Maggie Garvey had one as St. Maria Goretti beat Saint James for its first win of the season.

Colleen Costello had 15 saves for the Gaels (1-7).

Alyssa Glass and Mary-Kate Afzali both scored, Courtney Peterson had an assist and Rose Chuimento had 12 saves for the Saints (2-3-2).

Bishop Walsh 4, Hancock 2

HANCOCK -- Kelsie Munch and Josie Sornson each scored for Hancock in the loss.

Chandra Yonker had 11 saves for the Panthers (2-3).

Brunswick 2, Smithsburg 0

SMITHSBURG -- Lacey Martin and Dara Demich both scored as Brunswick shut out Smithsburg.

Emily Hargreaves had four saves for the Leopards (1-5).

BOONSBORO -- Sara Rishell had 21 kills, eight digs and three blocks to lead Smithsburg in a 25-16, 25-17, 25-22 sweep of Boonsboro.

Taylor Belella had 40 assists and five digs, Katie Sprecher had 17 digs and seven kills, Danielle Beaver had 16 digs and Colleen Black had 10 kills for the Leopards (6-0, 1-0).

Cortney Silvis had eight kills and two blocks, Megan Long had six kills, Rebecca Demers had 17 assists and five digs, Macy Fuscsick had 10 digs, Alison Griffith had eight digs, Tiffany Rohrer had seven digs and Amber Welch had six digs for the Warriors (2-4, 0-1).

Erin Garns had 15 assists, while Jenny Fisher had 23 service points and seven aces for the Blue Devils (5-0).

INWOOD, W.Va. -- Taylor Allen had 13 kills, 11 digs and two blocks as Musselman swept Martinsburg, 25-8, 25-17, 25-17.

Kortney Jenkins had 10 kills and five aces, Taylor Oates had 27 assists and Sammi Deter had 15 digs for the Applemen (7-0).

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. -- The Maidens fell to 2-4, 2-4 with a 25-9, 25-19, 25-12 Mid-Penn Colonial loss to Mechanicsburg.

McConnellsburg 3, Tussey Mountain 0

SAXTON, Pa. -- A'leese Dickerson had five digs, eight aces and 15 kills to lead McConnellsburg in a 25-18, 25-13, 25-21 sweep of Tussey Mountain.

Lisa DeShong had 25 assists, Emily Watkins had eight kills, Valerie Green had 16 digs, Jessica Nero had seven digs and five kills and Rikki Green had five digs for the Spartans (4-0).
