Mildred Ruth "Pete" Paris, 87, of Hagerstown, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Sept. 2, 1922, in Kitzmiller, Md., she was the daughter of the late John A. and Georgia (Junkins) Shore.

She was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church in Hagerstown. She also was a member of the Morris Frock American Legion Post No. 42 Ladies Auxiliary, the North American Rod and Gun Club and the B.P.O. Elks No. 378 Ladies Auxiliary.

She was a homemaker and worked as an inspector for Fairchild Aircraft during WWII.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred Marshall Paris, who died June 1, 2004.

Mildred is survived by two daughters, Deborah A. and husband Roland B. Baker of Clear Spring and Shelley P. and husband Barry L. Beers of Williamsburg, Va.; three sisters, Sylvia Maisack of New Bern, N.C., and Christine Hull and Patricia Stinson, both of Hagerstown; a brother, John Shore of Media, Pa.; five grandchildren, Stacey (Baker) Elwood and husband Brad, Kelli Beers Cooke and husband Chad, Katie Baker and Shane Carbaugh, Lindsay Beers Jacklin and husband Nate, and Bryan Lewis Beers and wife Beth; and four great-grandchildren, Jillian Paris Cooke, Josephine Ann Cooke, Hailey Ann Jacklin and Hadley Lyn Elwood.

In addition to her parents and husband, she also was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Shore, and a sister, Ellen Noland.

Funeral services will be conducted at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009,  with the Rev. Richard Jewel officiating.  Entombment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Friends will be received one hour before the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mildred's name to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742 or to John Wesley United Methodist Church, 129 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.
