Caroline "Bonnie" Lavaughn (Wishard) Blenard, 86, of Hagerstown, Md., died Monday, Sept. 21, 2009, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.

Born Sept. 8, 1923, in Greencastle, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John Luther and Anna Civilia (Barnhart) Wishard.

She was the wife of 46 years to the late Lewis Frederick Blenard Jr., who died Nov. 15, 1990.

Bonnie attended the Columbia Secretarial School.

She volunteered for many years with the American Red Cross, the Western Maryland Hospital Center and United Cerebral Palsy, all of Hagerstown.

She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Hagerstown.

Bonnie is survived by one son, Lewis F. Blenard III and wife, Paula, of Williamsport, Md.; three daughters, Bonnie L. (Blenard) Mower, Donna S. Blenard and Lee Ann F. Blenard, all of Hagerstown; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and her golden retriever, Shiloh.


In addition to her husband and parents, Caroline was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Michael Mower; and her two golden retrievers, Rebel-Leigh and Walker Blenard.

The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 25, 2009, at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, Hagerstown. The Rev. Leon Powell will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.

The visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 415 N. Charles St., Baltimore MD 21201-4101.

The Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, Bryan K. Kenworthy P.A., 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
