Warren Van Conway, 70

FREDERICK, Md. - Warren Van Conway, 70, a resident of College View Nursing Home, Frederick, Md., died there Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009.

Born Oct. 25, 1938, in Vinalhaven, Maine, he was the son of the late Max and Eleanor Conway.

A Vietnam veteran, he retired in 1977 to Hagerstown, Md., after serving 20 years in the U.S. Air Force.

He was involved in many community organizations, served as a volunteer fire policeman for many years, and was a member of the Vinalhaven VFW and American Legion.

Surviving are his daughter, Pamela Phoennix Fraver-Conway Norton of Lexington, Ky.; two brothers, Herbert Conway and his wife, Margie, and Clarence Conway and his wife, Muriel, all of Vinalhaven; and numerous nieces and nephews.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Stanley and Harry Conway.

He is loved and will be missed.

A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009, at Beaver Creek Church of the Brethren, 20402 Beaver Creek Road, Hagerstown, MD 21740, with Pastor Rachel Black officiating.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Vinalhaven Fire Department, Main Street, Vinalhaven, Maine 04863.
