WILLIAMSPORT - Ned Elmer McAllister, 76, of Williamsport, Md., and formerly of Big Spring, Md., died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown, Md.

Born March 7, 1933, in Big Spring, he was the son of the late Herbert and Lida Shank McAllister.

He was a mason with various construction companies in the metropolitan area until retiring. He also farmed in the Clear Spring area and raised beef cattle.

He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Hagerstown.

He was a member of The Improved Order of Red Men Tribe 84 of Williamsport.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy J. Baker McAllister of Williamsport, whom he married Aug. 28, 1999; son, Michael S. McAllister of Hagerstown; two sisters, Marguerite Ridenour of Hagerstown and Geraldine Land of Texas; brother, Jack McAllister of Clear Spring; nieces; and nephews.


He was preceded in death by one sister, Vera Wishard; and two brothers, Richard McAllister and Gerald McAllister.

The family will receive friends at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral home will be open after 9 a.m. Thursday for the convenience of family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Osborne Funeral Home on Friday, Sept. 25, 2009, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James O. Murr Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Little Rose Hill Cemetery, Clear Spring.
