In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife of 52 years, Kitty Lou Whittington; one daughter, Robin Ann Swope, and husband, Dennis, of Hagerstown; two sons, Robert L. Whittington Jr. and wife, Diane, of Hagerstown, and John F. Whittington and girlfriend, Jennifer Thren, of Ocean City, Md.; six sisters, Helen Churchey, Dorothy Mongan, Sandra Lewis and Wanda Boyer, all of Hagerstown, Betty Rohrer of Williamsport, Md., and Jean Cunningham of Falling Waters, W.Va.; four brothers, William Whittington, Ray Whittington and Richard Whittington, all of Hagerstown, and Samuel Whittington of Marlowe, W.Va.; two granddaughters, JoAnn L. Whittington and Stephane Swope, both of Hagerstown; and two grandsons, Robert S. Whittington of Hagerstown and Matthew Swope of Seattle, Wash.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of the Holy Trinity, 17805 Oak Ridge Drive, Hagerstown. The Rev. Timothy Leighton will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. Military graveside services will be conducted by Washington County AMVETS Post 10.
The family will receive friends Tuesday at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, from 7 to 9 p.m.
