Thrift shop



The Washington County Hospital Auxiliary's thrift shop, Repeat Performance, has completed restocking items and has fall/winter clothing for men, women and children, plus domestics, linens, small household items, shoes, handbags, jewelry, games, puzzles, books, CDs, DVDs and videos.

The shop is behind Dunkin' Donuts on Pennsylvania Avenue. Hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

A Christmas open house and holiday boutique are planned.

TOPS 0077



The TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 0077 members held their annual picnic Sept. 13.

The chapter also held its monthly awards presentation.

The chapter had 80 members weigh in for August. The chapter had a net loss and 32 members had perfect attendance. Janice Frye and Elsie Horst each had perfect attendance with no gains. Nine KOPS (Keep Off Pounds Sensibly) members were awarded for being at or below their goal for the month. Jean Betker was reinstated as a KOPS.

Division I winner was Patsy Price and division II winner was Frye. Frye and Horst each earned charms for six consecutive weeks with a loss, and Elsie for getting three-quarters of the way to her goal.

Joanne Little earned a charm for being half-way to her goal. The Shining Stars were Louise Horst and Pauline McAfee. The KOPS "Get-R-Done" winner for August was Dina Norris. The weekly winner was Frye, with a 2 1/4-pound loss. The August contest winners were Price and Frye.

Dorothy Martin will lead today's program.

The group meets Mondays at First Christian Church, 1345 Potomac Ave. Weigh-ins starts at 7 a.m. and the meeting is from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

American Legion Auxiliary to meet



Morris Frock Auxiliary Unit 42, the American Legion, will hold its monthly meeting Tuesday, Oct. 6, at the post home at 405 Northern Ave., Hagerstown. President Marilyn Hembrock will call the meeting to order at 7 p.m. A potluck meal, with members bringing their favorite dishes, will be shared at 6:15 p.m.

The guest speaker will be Maj. Robert Lyle of The Salvation Army.

Members are asked to bring socks or underwear to be donated to area schools, who will then distribute them to students in need.




Saint Mary School



Tuesday - Roy Rogers Night, 5 to 8 p.m. at the restaurant on Wesel Boulevard. The fundraiser will benefit the Home School Association.

TOPS 446



The TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 446 members were excited at last week's meeting. With 23 members weighing in, the total number of pounds lost was 42, one of the best weeks in the chapter's history.

After returning from a three-month stay in Nicaragua, Eva was the "best loser" with a 14.2-pound loss. She will share some highlights of that visit at a future meeting.

Area Captain Parilee Barber will present Wednesday's program.

Meetings are held Wednesdays from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Shiloh United Methodist Church, 19731 Shiloh Church Road in Hagerstown. Weigh-in is from 8:45 to 9:20 a.m.
