A shooting early Sunday at a North Prospect Street apartment sent a man to Washington County Hospital, then to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.

When Hagerstown City Police arrived at 660 N. Prospect St., Apt. 1, they found a man who had been shot once in the leg, according to Sgt. Paul J. Kifer.

The victim was in fair condition Sunday afternoon at the Baltimore hospital.

The suspected shooter is described as a black man, 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds and having cornrows, Kifer said.

"We're not sure what happened," Kifer said by telephone Sunday afternoon.

He asks anyone with information about the incident to call police at 301-790-3700.
