North Hagerstown's boys completed a sweep of the Washington County Tournament titles late Saturday night, defeating defending champion Williamsport 5-4 in a penalty kick shootout following a scoreless tie in regulation.

The Hubs (3-3) went 5-for-5 in the shootout, as Max Psillas, Andreas Grahn, Kelton Miller, Dino Gilmanov and Tyler Sterling converted. Sterling iced the victory by slotting his shot into the left side.

Daniel Doub, Bryan Whitmore, Cody Gardenhour and Mark Oliver scored for Williamsport (2-2-2), but Connor Arnone's shot missed high and right and turned out to be the difference.

North controlled much of the run of play in regulation. In the second half alone, the Hubs racked up a 9-3 advantage in total shots and a 5-0 edge in shots on goal.

The Hubs had plenty of opportunities to win the game in regulation.

In the 47th minute, Psillas sent a free kick from 19 yards just to the right of the goal over the crossbar.

In the 50th minute, Frederick Owusu-Ayim found Nelson Moreno in front, but Moreno's shot also went high.

Williamsport goalkeeper Alex Aleshire came up with a marvelous save in the 58th minute after Owusu-Ayim and Moreno teamed up for another chance. Moreno's left-footed shot took dead aim at the top right corner, but Aleshire reacted in time to make the difficult stop.

In the 60th minute, Moreno made an athletic bicycle-kick pass to Gilmanov, but he partially fanned on the volley attempt and it dribbled harmlessly to Aleshire.

Aleshire came up huge again in the 61st minute, reacting quickly to Moreno's shot from close in and getting enough of it to deflect it up off the crossbar before corralling it.

The Wildcats had two opportunities to pull out a win late.

In the 70th minute, Jonathan Adams got to a loose ball 25 yards from goal and sent a shot over the crossbar.

In the 75th minute, Gardenhour sent a cross to Adams, but his header was saved by Hubs keeper Caleb Mittel.

North had one last chance in the 77th minute when Psillas' corner kick from the right side came to Moreno, but his low header was saved by Aleshire.

The Hubs' last county tournament title came in 2006, and also was the result of a shootout victory, 3-0 over Smithsburg following a 1-1 tie in regulation.

North reached the final by defeating Boonsboro 3-2 in the first round and Clear Spring 2-0 in the semifinals. Williamsport defeated South Hagerstown 2-0 in the first round and Boonsboro 2-0 in the semifinals. The Warriors reached the semis by virtue of their two goals against the Hubs.
