Class of 1949 at Smithsburg High School gathers for reunion

The Smithsburg High School class of 1949 held its 60-year class reunion Aug. 15 at the Parlor House in Waynesboro, Pa.

The class had 27 people in attendance with 11 graduates on hand.

Leslie Leathers traveled the greatest distance from Broomfield, Colo.

The class enjoyed fellowship and the music of Jack and Donna Haines, who performed hits from the 1940s and '50s.

The class had 38 students who graduated. Fifteen classmates are deceased. The class recognized those who are deceased.

Reunion committee chairman Charles Newcomer called the meeting together and greeted the group. He also led the invocation after the meal and fellowship.

Marlene McCleaf and Jean Brown presented the group with prizes and led various activities.

The class now meets each year for its reunion.
