Little League to elect board of directors

Maugansville Little League will hold election of its board of directors for the 2009-10 season Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Maugansville Ruritan Club building.

Anyone who is affiliated with the league is encouraged to attend. This will also serve as the postseason awards ceremony. Light refreshments will be served.

The league will hold a golf tournament Saturday, Oct. 10, at Beaver Creek Country Club, starting at 1 p.m. Anyone interested in participating or sponsoring the event, contact Jason Carbaugh at 301-733-9031.

School holding Wolfgang fundraiser

Maugansville Elementary School is holding its Wolfgang Candy fundraiser. Several items are available, including candies, wrapping paper, candles, cheeses, bologna, sugar-free candy, cookies, etc.


If you would like to see a catalog, call 301-739-6681 and leave your name and phone number and you will be contacted.

Orders can also be placed online at, anytime during the year. The school will receive credit for the order and it will be shipped to your house. Maugansville school's account number is WA1031.

Orders and money are due by Oct. 14, and available for pickup at the school Saturday, Nov. 15, between 9 a.m. and noon.

Pie and Cake Night

The Ladies of the Elks and Associates will hold a Pie and Cake Night Friday, Sept. 25, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Hagerstown Elks Lodge. The event is for members and their guests.

Gun giveaway set for Oct. 3

The Maugansville Goodwill Volunteer Fire Co. will hold its third annual gun giveaway Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Improved Order of Red Men at 16129 Lappans Road in Williamsport.

Doors open at 11:30 a.m. Food will be available from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. and beer from noon to 5 p.m. You must buy a band for $5 to drink beer.

The meal will include roast beef sandwich and other items.

Tickets are sponsored by Karl Pile Septic Service. You must be 18 years old to purchase tickets and to enter the grounds. Ticket stub and ID will be required. No outside coolers will be allowed.

Tickets cost $20 for singles or $30 per couple.
