St. Mark's Church to mark anniversary

On Sunday, Oct. 11, St. Mark's Lutheran Church will celebrate its 120th anniversary.

The Rev. Quentin Fleming, interim pastor, will join retired pastors, the Rev. Dave Kaplan, the Rev. A. Bernard Coates, the Rev. Ronald Heinze and retired Bishop David Donges in a celebration service at 10 a.m.

A luncheon will be held in the church auditorium at the conclusion of the service honoring the past and looking to the future. All are welcomed to attend. The church is at 601 Washington Ave. in Hagerstown.

SHHS class of 1959

The South Hagerstown High School class of 1959 has extended the deadline for reservations to its 50th reunion until Friday.


The reunion will be Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Elks Lodge in Hagerstown.

Dinner costs $35 for singles and $65 for couples.

Christmas in October

Washington Square United Methodist Church, at 538 Washington Ave. in Hagerstown, will hold its Christmas in October flea market and food sale Saturday, Oct. 10, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The fundraiser is being held to help pay for the fire and security system, which the church is having installed.

There will be parking in the rear of the church.

Breakfast and lunch will be served. The menu will include coffee, doughnuts, sandwiches, soup, cake, cookies, hard candy and apple dumplings.

Tables will be set up for the flea market.

The South Hagerstown High School Alumni Association will hold a yard sale Saturday at the school from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Setup starts at 7 a.m. Spaces rent for $10.
