Griffith, Demers help Warriors edge Knights

PREP VOLLEYBALL

MIDDLETOWN, Md. -- Alison Griffith had 17 kills and 16 digs and Rebecca Demers added 30 assists to lift Boonsboro to a 25-14, 25-21, 17-25, 19-25, 15-8 victory over Middletown on Wednesday.

Macy Fuscsick recorded 20 digs, Amber Welch had 15 digs, Cortney Silvis had eight kills and Megan Long added seven kills for the Warriors (1-3).

JV: Middletown, 2-1.

North Hagerstown 3, Manchester Valley 0

MANCHESTER, Md. --Â Megan Plume had 20 assists to lead the Hubs to a 25-10, 25-12, 25-7 sweep of Manchester Valley.

Akilah McCall had nine kills for the Hubs (4-0).

Smithsburg 3, Frederick 0

SMITHSBURG -- Sara Rishell had eight blocks, eight digs and 15 kills as Smithsburg swept Frederick, 25-17, 25-19, 25-16.

Katie Sprecher had 10 kills, Taylor Belella had 27 assists, Danielle Beaver had 10 digs and Kaylee Gardenhour had eight service points for the Leopards (4-0).

Williamsport 3, Tuscarora 0

WILLIAMSPORT -- Sam Kelly had 10 kills, Paige Kitchen added 20 assists and Summer Neff tallied 20 digs to lead Williamsport (2-1) to a 25-21, 25-17, 25-13 sweep of Tuscarora.

Martinsburg 3, Mercersburg 0

MERCERSBURG, Pa. --Â Abby Schwing had 15 assists, Taylor Riley added nine kills and Brookke Mahaffey had six kills for Mercersburg Academy (0-3) in a 25-20, 25-17, 25-15 loss to Martinsburg (2-1).

JV: Martinsburg, 2-0.

BOYS SOCCER

South Hagerstown 2, Saint James 1

Matt Suddith scored the winning goal on a free kick and added an assist to lead South past Saint James.

Luke Toms added a goal for the Rebels (4-2). Andrew Ludwick scored for the Saints (2-2-1).

Mercersburg 4, St. Maria Goretti 0

Joey Roberts had a hat trick to lead Mercersburg Academy, which posted its third shutout of the season.

Joe Strider also scored a goal, while Jake Shore had an assist for the Blue Storm (3-0-1).

The Gaels fall to 1-4-1.

Clear Spring 3, Berkeley Springs 0

CLEAR SPRING -- Matthew Blair had a goal and an assist to pace Clear Spring, while Gavin Myers and Ralph Weaver added a goal each.

Dan Mott recorded an assist and Ryan Cooper had five saves for the Blazers (4-1).

McConnellsburg 9, Southern Fulton 0

WARFORDSBURG, Pa. -- Colby Sowers scored four goals and Drew Wink added two as McConnellsburg dominated Southern Fulton.

The Spartans scored their first goal three minutes into the game and ran off to a 6-0 halftime lead.

Cody Christy, Nathan Swope and Hunter Miller added goals for McConnellsburg (1-1).

Courtney Strait had 16 saves for Southern Fulton (1-3).

Clear Spring 5, Berkeley Springs 0

CLEAR SPRING -- Alyssa Brandt scored two goals and the Blazers defeated the Indians (0-7-1).

Brenna Reid, Jenna Knable and Valerie Carey each added a goal, Jaime Humbertson and Bethany Bowers had assists and Tori Albert made six saves for the shutout for Clear Spring (3-2).

Boonsboro 6, FSK 0

BOONSBORO -- Jen Sherell and Abby Duncan scored twice each for Boonsboro in its shutout of Francis Scott Key.

Kara Nettleton had a goal and an assist, Kayla Walsh recorded two assists and Amy Moore and Amanda Truax each added an assist for the Warriors (3-2).

Saint James 0, South Hagerstown 0

Rachel Herrera recorded 23 saves for Saint James (1-2-2), while Juliann Tribett made 22 saves for South (0-3-1).

WALKERSVILLE, Md. -- Emily Har-greaves had 13 saves for Smithsburg (1-3), which was outshot by Walkersville, 17-12.

Mercersburg 3, Hedgesville 2

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. -- Kate Vary scored the winning goal on an assist from Olivia Bulcao as Mercersburg Academy defeated Hedgesville.

Ana Kelly scored two goals for the Blue Storm (1-1).

Katie Marchun and Molly Eifert each scored for the Eagles (2-4-1).
