Friday is also Pride Day. The school will celebrate its pride in the community and school on Fridays. The student council develops themes for some weeks, but any purple and gold attire is counted as school spirit. Please encourage your child to support their grade, community and school.

HCC hosts concert

The Hagerstown Community College Alumni Association will host its last summer concert of the season when the 229th U.S. Army Band takes the stage Sunday at 4 p.m. at the HCC's Alumni Amphitheater.

A traditional 48-piece military band, the band has been part of the Maryland National Guard for most of the 20th century and is one of the few military bands to have received battle honors. The 48 citizen-soldiers who make up the band come from diverse backgrounds, including government workers, police officers, teachers, professional musicians and college students.

The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Lisa Stewart, HCC coordinator, alumni relations and annual giving, at 301-790-2800, ext. 346, or by e-mail at
