September 15, 2009

FALLING WATERS, W.Va. -- A 26-year-old man accused of crashing a golf cart while intoxicated was charged with failing to yield to an emergency vehicle and driving with a license that had been revoked for driving under the influence, according to court records.

Brandon Dale French of 263 Hunt Drive in Kearneysville, W.Va., was arraigned Saturday on the two misdemeanor charges by Berkeley County Magistrate Joan V. Bragg, magistrate court records show.

West Virginia State Police Trooper N.K. Campbell responded to River Bend Campgrounds at 4 a.m. Saturday to investigate a report that a person was operating a white golf cart and hitting other carts, according to the trooper's complaint.

Campbell said even after he activated his emergency lights and sirens, the man continued to drive the golf cart, according to his complaint.
