WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Mrs. Rebecca Elizabeth "Becky" (Eigenbrode) Martin, 84, a resident of Quincy Village, Quincy, Pa., and formerly of 11435 Gehr Road, Waynesboro, Pa., entered into eternal rest at 2:56 a.m., Monday, Sept. 14, 2009, in the nursing home.

Born Feb. 4, 1925, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Vada (Harshman) Eigenbrode.

Mrs. Martin attended Washington Township schools.

She and her husband, the late Mr. LeRoy J. "Scrub" Martin, were married Feb. 15, 1946, in Winchester, Va. Mr. Martin died Oct. 13, 1982.

She lived all her life at her Gehr Road address until entering the nursing home in January 2008.

Mrs. Martin worked for Landis Machine Co., Waynesboro, as a machine operator, for three years, during World War II. She and her husband started farming in 1950 and that continued until his death.


Mrs. Martin was a member of Waynesboro Church of the Brethren, where she helped in the crib nursing department for over 20 years.

She is survived by four children, Lois A. Reynolds of Waynesboro, Jean E. Mellott of Chambersburg, Samuel L. Martin of Waynesboro and Wilma L. Rebuck of Waynesboro; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; one great-grandson; and three step great-grandsons.

She was the last of her immediate family.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Jason Martin, who died in 1988; one brother, Merle Eigenbrode; one half-sister, Retta Eigenbrode; and two half-brothers, Mark Eigenbrode and Russell Eigenbrode.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009, in Waynesboro Church of the Brethren, 117 S. Church St., Waynesboro, with the Rev. Prudence Yelinek officiating.

Burial will follow in Harbaugh Church Cemetery near Rouzerville, Pa.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lutheran Home Care and Hospice, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17202.
