Broadfording sweeps Heritage in MDCC

PREP VOLLEYBALL

Rebecca Adams had 30 assists and eight digs to lead Broadfording to a 25-17, 25-18, 25-11 sweep of Heritage Academy in a battle of unbeatens in the Mason Dixon Christian Conference on Tuesday.

Hannah Young had 16 kills and nine digs, Charlotte Worsfold had 10 kills and three blocks and Danielle Dubois had 21 digs for the Lions (13-1, 7-0).

Kara Stamper had eight kills and three blocks, Callie Butts had 29 assists and Rebekah Clarke added nine service points for the Eagles (7-1, 6-1).

Grace Academy 3, Faith Christian 1

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- Jamie Shurnitski had 19 service points, including 10 aces and 15 assists to lead Grace Academy to a 25-6, 16-25, 25-14, 25-22 victory over Faith Christian.

Amanda Hall had 16 service points, including 12 aces, and three kills for the Knights (3-4, 3-4).

Shalom Christian 3, New Life Christian 2

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- Juliana Mowen had 34 digs, nine kills, three aces and three blocks as Shalom Christian beat New Life 25-14, 25-13, 25-17, 25-23, 15-8.

Tasha Lentz had 20 digs, eight kills, 10 service points and two blocks, Ashlyn Blank had 25 digs and nine kills, while Natasha Gibble had 13 service points for the Flames (4-3).

Saint James 3, St. John's Catholic Prep 0

SAINT JAMES -- Lindsey Gish paced Saint James with 10 service points, including six aces, and 20 assists in the Saints' 25-9, 25-8, 25-8 sweep of St. John's Catholic Prep.

Elizabeth Draper added 15 service points, Regena Reyes had six kills and Callan Spicher tallied 10 service points, including four aces for the Saints (2-1).

JV: Saint James, 2-0.

WALKERSVILLE, Md. -- Daniel Doub scored on a free kick but Williamsport lost to Walkersville.

Alex Aleshire had 11 saves for the Wildcats (2-1-2).

FSK 3, North Hagerstown 2

UNION BRIDGE, Md. -- Dino Gilmanov and Andreas Grahn scored a goal apiece for North (2-3), while Max Psillas had an assist and Andrew Barnhart made five saves.

Mitch Osterhouse scored twice and John Dooley added a goal for FSK.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- Luke Bunting had a goal and 2 assists to lead Grace Academy to an MDCC road win over Faith.

Zack Morgan and Jeremiah House also scored a goal each, while Killian Geeslin had an assist and Kenny Frederickson got the shutout in goal with 12 saves for Grace (8-1, 7-0).

Broadfording Academy 3, Heritage Academy 0

Steven Torres scored two goals as Broadfording shut out Heritage Academy.

Andrew Wyand, Trevor Snodderly and Andy Torres all had an assist, while Gabe Hirsch also scored for the Lions (7-1).

Mercersburg 1, Martinsburg 0

MERCERSBURG, Pa. -- Andy Chan scored on a header off a corner kick from Joey Roberts as Mercersburg Academy (2-0-1) shut out Martinsburg.

Greencastle 3, Harrisburg 1

GREENCASTLE, Pa. -- Jake Dempsey, Alex Yoder and Noah Graham each scored a goal as Greencastle defeated Harrisburg.

Kevin Piper and Corey Meyers both had an assist for the Blue Devils (3-2).

WILLIAMSPORT -- Renee Barnes, Lauren Johnson, Victoria Key, Brittany Weaver and Lenzie Weicht each scored a goal for Williamsport in its rout of Francis Scott Key.

Atha wins PSAC honor

CALIFORNIA, Pa. -- Jordan Atha, a Williamsport grad, was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week based on her performance last week.

The California (Pa.) University junior won the individual title in the Carl Broughton Invitational at Marietta (Ohio) College, besting a field of 66 runners in a time of 19:28, nearly 21 seconds faster than the next runner.
