FREDERICK, Md. - Anthony Wayne (Tony) Bowers, 50, of 1613 Coopers Way, Frederick, Md., died Friday, Sept. 11, 2009, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born Aug. 22, 1959, in Hagerstown, Md., he was the son of Peggy Lowman Bowers Corsi of Hagerstownand the late Harmon Bowers.
He was a 1977 graduate of South Hagerstown High School.
He was employed with Giant Grocery Store in Urbana, Md. He was previously employed with Corsi's Pizza Parlor for 25 years.
Tony attended Redeemer Lutheran Church in Damascus, Md.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Jan Marie Bowers; two stepdaughters, Raylynn Haggan of Anderson, S.C., and Jennifer Feeney of Lucketts, Va.; one stepson, Greg Belt of Frederick; three sisters, Nancy Miller of Mercersburg, Pa., Debra S. Toms of Hagerstown and Tammy T. Rodriguez of Falling Waters, W.Va.; one brother, Richard Bowers of Hagerstown; one stepbrother, Michael McCullough of Hagerstown; stepmother, Yvonne Bowers of Hagerstown; six grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by stepfather, Gene Corsi.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Pastor Raymond Scheck will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial donations may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church, 27015 Ridge Drive, Damascus, MD 20872. Memorial donations will be used to support "The Water Boys," a Christian men's fellowship group that Tony was a member of and supported.
