Morgan's heads-up effort leads Grace over Leopards

SMITHSBURG -- Zack Morgan had two goals and an assist two days after suffering a concussion against South Hagerstown, and Grace Academy bounced back from a loss to the Rebels with a 4-1 victory over Smithsburg on Monday.

Luke Bunting had two goals for Grace (7-1), while Caleb Serafini and Sean Koontz each had an assist. Kenny Frederickson made 10 saves.

Yusif Kadir scored on an assist by Alex Brown, while Dan Gillen made eight saves for Smithsburg (0-5).

Saint James 5, St. Maria Goretti 3

SAINT JAMES -- Ben Louderback and Andrew Ludwick each scored two goals to lead the Saints past the Gaels.

Paul Musinguzi had a goal and an assist for Saint James (2-1-1). Fraser McPherson added an assist.

Aaron Wilkinson, Mateo Pejla and Rodrigo Reyna each had a goal for Goretti (1-3-1).

Frederick 2, South Hagerstown 0

Will Carroll had seven saves for South, which drops to 3-2.


Williamsport 0, Thomas Johnson 0

WILLIAMSPORT -- Thomas Johnson outshot Williamsport 30-10 but each team failed to convert in double-overtime.

Alex Aleshire had 20 saves for the Wildcats (2-0-2).

Chambersburg 8, Greencastle 0

GREENCASTLE, Pa. -- Andrew Collier scored three goals and assisted on another as Chambersburg shut out Greencastle.

Alex Sanchez had two goals and an assist, Tyler Young had a goal and an assist, Nick Bunting had two assists, Alexander Rosenbaum and Zachary Davis also scored, while Taylor Walton had seven saves for the Trojans (4-0).

Seth Sprague had nine saves for the Blue Devils (2-2).


Washington 2, Saint James 0

Angeles Dixon and Sammi Simpson both scored on unassisted goals as Washington shut out Saint James.

McKenna Junkin had 17 saves for the Patriots (3-3-2).

Rachel Herrera had 20 saves for the Saints (1-2-1).

Hancock 2, Tussey Mountain 0

HANCOCK, Md. -- Josie Sornson scored on a free kick, while Mariah Peck scored on a penalty kick as Hancock shut out Tussey Mountain.

Chandra Younker had six saves for the Panthers (2-2).

North Hagerstown 3, North Carroll 2

Kelsey Smith scored two goals as North Hagerstown beat North Carroll.

Sam Koterwas and Kendra Smith each had an assist for the Hubs (3-1).

Frederick 5, South Hagerstown 0

FREDERICK, Md. --Juliann Trivett had 29 saves but South (0-3) was shut out by Frederick.


Century 3, Boonsboro 1

SYKESVILLE, Md. -- Rebecca Demers had 14 assists and 11 digs for Boonsboro (0-3) in a 22-25, 25-17, 25-17, 25-20 loss to Century. Macy Fuscsick added 16 assists and six digs, Megan Long had 12 kills, Alison Griffith had six kills and 11 digs, Tiffany Rohrer had 12 digs, Amber Welch had nine digs and Jessica Mazelon had seven kills.

JV: Boonsboro won, 2-0.

Smithsburg 3, Linganore 0

SMITHSBURG -- Sara Rishell had 16 kills, 12 digs, 10 service points and four blocks to lead Smithsburg in a 25-19, 25-17, 25-16 sweep of Linganore.

Taylor Belella had 23 assists, 13 service points and four blocks, while Katie Sprecher had six kills for the Leopards (3-0).

South Hagerstown 3, Westminster 0

WESTMINSTER, Md. -- Megan Vance had 22 assists as South Hagerstown swept Westminster 25-23, 25-14, 25-21.

Rebecca Pearl had 18 kills, seven service point and six digs, Courtney Showe had seven digs, while Brianna Burnett had five blocks for the Rebels (2-1).

Heritage Academy 3, Saint James 0

Rachel Clarke had 13 kills and two blocks as Heritage Academy swept Saint James 25-20, 25-23, 25-19.

Callie Butts had 33 assists and two aces, Kara Stamper had 10 kills, four blocks and six digs, Brianna Dorsey had nine sevice points, eight digs and two aces and Kathleen Kidd had 10 digs and 11 service points for the Eagles (7-0).

Callan Spicher had five kills and 25 digs for the Saints (1-1).

Berkeley Springs 3, St. Maria Goretti 0

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. -- Jean Hogan had two aces, three kills and 22 assists but St. Maria Goretti lost 27-25, 25-20, 25-23 to Berkeley Springs.

Charlotte Riggs had four kills and three blocks, while Courtney Thompson had five digs and 14 kills for the Gaels (2-3).

FREDERICK, Md. -- Sam Kelly had 13 kills but Williamsport lost 25-22, 25-11, 25-23 to Thomas Johnson.

Caroline Holt had seven kills, Paige Kitchen had 14 assists, Loganne Smith had 12 assists, while Summer Neff had 24 digs for the Wildcats (1-1).
