Chambersburg Emergency Services chief resigns

September 14, 2009

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- The Chambersburg Borough Council on Monday acknowledged the resignation of Emergency Services Chief Terry Osborne about 18 months after he started in the role.

"Due to some family obligations, he can no longer continue," Borough Manager Eric Oyer said.

Oyer said borough officials hoped to establish some long-term leadership in that position, but complimented Osborne for laying a foundation for Chambersburg Fire Department and Ambulance Services improvements.

"We've been looking for a replacement," he said.

The position remained vacant for more than two years before Osborne, then 48, was hired. He previously worked as a firefighter in Scranton, Pa.

Oyer told the borough council that he might have a candidate ready for hiring at the Sept. 28 council meeting.
