WVU Hospitals-East



RANSON, W.Va. - James F. Murray II, D.O., a board certified obstetrician and gynecologist, recently joined the West Virginia University Maternity and Women's Health Center in Ranson and the medical staff at WVUH-East's Jefferson Memorial Hospital.

Murray, who has been in private practice since 2000, received his medical degree from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, W.Va., and completed his residency in OB/GYN at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Ohio University, in Toledo, Ohio.

Murray will specialize in maternal and obstetric care along with comprehensive women's health services.

RBC Wealth Management



John R. Hershey III, a financial consultant at RBC Wealth Management in Hagerstown, has earned the firm's internal, professional designation of Accredited Wealth Manager (AWM).

In earning the designation, Hershey demonstrated extensive knowledge of the firm's wealth management process, including concentration in the areas of estate and trust planning, insurance solutions and advanced investment strategies.

Sagittarius Salon & Spa



Brandon DaSilva of Sagittarius Salon & Spa has been chosen to represent Sebastian Professional as an urban design team member.

DaSilva will facilitate live hands-on education/demonstration seminars and travel to assist at runway shows and editorial photo shoots.

o Janelle Ausherman has been chosen to represent Wella as a color educator.

Ausherman will educate live hands-on demonstrations on color education with trend and fashion directives. She also will assist Loree Wesley, Sagittarius' in-salon educator, with training new talent.

Dr. Joseph Burley



Joseph Bruce Burley, DDS, of Boonsboro, was one of more than 200 dentists who recently received the Academy of General Dentistry's Fellowship Award during the academy's convocation ceremony in Baltimore.

In order to receive the award, Burley completed 500 hours of continuing dental education, passed a comprehensive written exam and fulfilled three years of continuing membership with the Academy of General Dentistry.

Burley graduated from the University of Maryland-Baltimore College of Dental Surgery in 1986 and practices dentistry in Hagerstown.

Roxbury Correctional Institution



Randy Thomas, an officer on the 7-3 shift, has been named Employee of the Month for September at Roxbury Correctional Institution.

Thomas put himself at risk, sustaining an injury to his hand in an effort to take possession of a weapon from an inmate, according to a prepared release. He displayed heroic efforts to save the inmate's life.

Thomas has been employed by the State of Maryland since 2006.

High Rock Studios



Three people recently joined the staff at High Rock Studios.

o Chris Walterhouse has joined the staff as a Web developer. He has seven years of experience in the programming field.

Walterhouse previously worked as a software engineer and programmer. He graduated from Shippensburg (Pa.) University with a bachelor of science degree in computer science with a minor in English and a focus on technical writing.

o Zoran Knezevic has joined the staff as a Web developer. He has almost three years of knowledge in developing software.

Knezevic graduated from Hagerstown Community College with an associate degree in computer science.

o Lauren Layman has joined the staff as an assistant project manager. She will assist in overseeing Web site development, application development projects and various copywriting projects.

Layman graduated from Shippensburg University with a degree in communications, journalism and public relations.

Leadership Washington County



Amy Black has been named to the board of directors of Leadership Washington County.

Black is the director of human resources for First Data.

Orrstown Bank



SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Chris Jackson has been promoted to vice president, controller and investor relations officer in the Finance Department at Orrstown Bank.

Jackson began his career with Orrstown Bank in February 2001 as a trust administrator. He was promoted to portfolio manager in 2002, and later promoted to assistant vice president and portfolio manager. He became a vice president in 2007.

Jackson earned a bachelor's degree in business administration, majoring in accounting, from Shippensburg University.

Tower Bank



GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Jenny Burget of the Gateway office of Tower Bank and Lianne Garner of the Lincoln Way East office recently were promoted to branch sales managers at their offices.

Burget previously served as the customer service representative supervisor at the Gateway office. She has more than 16 years of banking experience.

Garner previously served as the assistant branch manager at the Lincoln Way East office. She has 21 years of banking experience. She is a graduate of Fannett-Metal High School and the Franklin County Career and Technology Center.

Jack Gaughen Realtor ERA



GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Scott Palmer and James Stoneham of the Greencastle office of Jack Gaughen Realtor ERA recently were recognized as agents of the month for July.

Palmer was recognized in the three years and over category, and Stoneham was recognized in the three years and under category.

The award is given based on the number of listings taken, sales made and closed sales, as well as attendance at Realtor functions and continuing education classes.
