September 11, 2009

FREDERICK, Md. -- A 16-year-old girl died Friday from injuries she received when the car she was driving struck a tree along Woodville Road in Frederick County, according to a Frederick County Sheriff's Office press release.

Leslie Ann Hook of Mount Airy, Md., was pronounced dead at Frederick Memorial Hospital, deputies said.

Two teenage girls riding in the car with Hook were in stable condition at Suburban Hospital in Montgomery County, Md., deputies said.

Sheriff's deputies and EMS personnel were dispatched to the collision near Harrisville Road at 3:10 p.m., deputies said.

Hook was northbound on Woodville Road when she lost control of the car, deputies said. The car crossed the center line, and the driver's side of the car struck a tree, deputies said.

A preliminary investigation indicated driver error and speed appeared to be causes of the accident, deputies said.
