Let there be light

The sun provides us warmth, energy and light.

It also often provides us spectacular light shows as its rays break through tree canopies, paint the sky with gorgeous colors, and create with rain's help the illusion of a color spectrum in the sky.

Tri-State photographers captured several of these light shows, including a portions of a perfect, unobstructed rainbow - at times a double rainbow - that appeared the evening of Friday, Aug. 21.

The Herald-Mail runs readers' best recent photographs taken in the Tri-State area.

Quality is key. Sharp, large, color images look best.

Close-up photos show detail better. If the subject is small, get close or use a telephoto lens to make the subject appear large in the photo.
