Harry Eugene Blair, 83, of Hagerstown, Md., went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009, from his home.

Born Aug. 2, 1926, in Clear Spring, Md., he was the son of the late Russell Stanley Blair and Venette Grosh Blair.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Mae Blair.

He retired in 1980 from MCI as a correctional officer after 25 years of service. He was a member of the Hagerstown First Church of God, the VFW of Hagerstown and the Joseph C. Herbert American Legion Post 222 of Clear Spring.


He is survived by a very special friend, Daris Higgins of Greencastle, Pa.; one son, William E. (Bill) Blair and wife, Brenda, of St. Cloud, Fla.; two sisters, Ruth Blair Combs and husband, Vincent, of Orlando, Fla., and Edith Blair Sword and husband, Charles, of Clear Spring, Md.; two brothers, Frederick Blair, and Robert Blair and wife, Dottie, both of Hagerstown; two grandchildren, Kimberly Blair Hill and husband, Quinn, of Clinton, Miss., and Kristina Blair LaFountain and husband, Nicholas, of St. Cloud; seven great-grandchildren, Corin, Silas, Felix and baby Hill on the way, Kaylin, Kamryn, Cole and Conner LaFountain.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Blair Reiff, and three brothers, Richard Blair, Rollin Blair and Ray Blair.

Services will be held on Monday, Sept. 14, at 10:30 a.m. at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home Inc., 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring. The Rev. Jonathan Laye will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown, with military honors by the Tri-State Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m.
