FREDERICK, Md. - Mr. Rudolph McKinley "Josh" Blank, 91, of Frederick, died on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009, at the Washington Adventist Hospital in Takoma Park. He was the husband of the late Naomi Stine Blank, who died on April 4, 1973.

Born in Frederick, on Nov. 2, 1917, he was a son of the late Wilfred G. and Effie Delauter Blank. He was the last of his immediate family.

Mr. Blank proudly served his country during WWII in the United States Army. Most of his life he worked as a stone mason, having worked in several cathedrals and churches in the Washington, D.C., area, also at Mount Saint Mary's and was the last living stone mason who worked on the bell tower in Baker Park in Frederick.

He was a longtime member of the Edgewood Church of God and was active with the church choir for 80 years and served as treasurer of the building fund. He enjoyed working in his yard and was an avid gardener. He was also in the Southern States catalog.

Surviving is his loving daughter, Nancy L. Mayo and her husband Dave, of Frederick, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Hildebrand and Yvonne Hooper, and three brothers, Leon, Ralph and Lloyd Blank.

Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 11, 2009, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick, with his family receiving friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009, from Edgewood Church of God, 8204 Edgewood Church Road, Frederick. The Rev. Joseph P. Sheedy, pastor of the church, will officiate. Interment will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Edgewood Church of God, 8204 Edgewood Church Road, Frederick, MD 21702.
