Patriot Day, a day of remembrance



Patriot Day, a day celebrated in honor of the memories of all of the loved ones lost on Sept. 11, 2001, will be Friday. Always in our hearts and forever on our minds, we will never forget. A special thank you is extended to those who served our country during that time and who continue to serve our country proudly.

Hager House



The Jonathan Hager House and Museum in Hagerstown City Park will hold "Phantasma - Things That Go Bump in the Night!" Thursday, Sept. 24, at 7 p.m.

It will be a special program about all of the creatures that have gone bump in the night at the Hager House through the years. The event, which is free, will offer a lecture and slide show.

South High yard sale



The South Hagerstown High School Alumni Association will hold a yard sale Saturday, Sept. 19, at the school from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Setup starts at 7 a.m. Spaces rent for $10.

Alumni to meet



The South High Alumni Association will meet today in the school's media center at 7 p.m.

South High PTA to meet



The South Hagerstown High School PTA will meet today at 6 p.m. in the media center. The meeting is planned to last approximately one hour.

The PTA will be collecting donations at home football games to benefit local scholarship programs. South Hagerstown High will host its first home game of the season Friday when it plays Urbana High School at 7 p.m.

Community day



On Saturday, Sept. 19, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. the church of the Holy Trinity, on the corner of Oak Ridge Drive and Halfway Boulevard, will host a fall community day.

Lots of activities are planned, including a yard sale, soup and sandwich sale, baked goods, raffle items, silent auction, exhibitions and music. For more information, call 301-739-0702.

Milestone



Happy birthday to you. My brother in law, Erik Shekels, will celebrate a milestone birthday this coming week. Erik will turn 30 years old Saturday, Sept. 12. Happy birthday to you, Erik. Happy anniversary. Rodgers and Donna Willett of Williamsport, will celebrate their wedding anniversary Friday. Rodgers and Donna, fondly known to our family as Grandma and Grandpa Willett, will celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary Friday, Sept. 11. What a truly wonderful celebration of love and family.
