Bartlett to address TEA Party marchers

September 10, 2009

Hagerstown TEA Party organizer Neil Parrott said Wednesday that U.S. Rep. Roscoe Bartlett will address participants of Saturday's March On Washington at the park-and-ride lot next to the Maryland Department of Motor Vehicles' Hagerstown office before they board buses to Washington.

More than 300 participants from the four-state area plan to attend the kick-off rally at 7:30 a.m., Parrott said in an e-mailed release.

The Hagerstown TEA Party has chartered six buses for the trip to Washington. The group is coordinating with TEA Parties from Chambersburg, Pa., Cumberland, Md., Martinsburg, W.Va., and Winchester, Va., for the National TEA Party.

The march will give TEA Party participants the opportunity to demonstrate against what they see as excessive government spending, Cap and Trade tax legislation, and "socialized health care," Parrott said.
